After a disappointing initial effort , Palm has unleashed version 1.1.0 of its webOS Facebook app.
We heard ( momentarily ) that Sprint was fixing to roll webOS 1.4 out to Palm devices starting today, and it seems as if one particular Pre Central forum member has stumbled upon the software early. We’ve already shown you the full changelog , but if you’re too anxious to wait for your own OTA alert, hit up the source link for a deep dive into webOS 1.4 screenshots
Sprint’s 1.4 webOS update for the Palm Pre and Pixi has turned up a day late and a dollar richer, with both handsets now capable of recording video. The Pre also has Flash 10 capability, via an Adobe plug-in.
If you ask us, the Palm Pre Plus pretty much sells itself . So if we were working out a promo campaign for it, we’d just display the competitive pricing front and center and get the hell out of the product’s way
If you’re a Palm Pre owner who’s been craving some old-school distraction, rejoice! You can now play Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance games on your smartphone. Game Boy Advance games, like Mario Kart Short Circuit, aren’t quite running at full speed yet—about 60% of normal speed with sound or 90% without—but Game Boy and Game Boy Color games work just fine, and, as they say, emulators can’t be choosers. The VisualBoyAdvance for WebOS project only started two weeks ago, so hopefully updates and improvements will be quick to follow.
50 seems to be a pretty trendy number right now, what with Palm’s Pre Plus and Samsung’s i8910 HD both showing off the ability to run more than 49 concurrent processes .
Now that Verizon Wireless will be selling the brand new Palm Pre Plus with more memory and internal storage, is fair to see how it does against the original Pre. The good folks over at Precentral have done a video showing how good both devices do at opening cards (multitasking). On the video below you’ll see how the multitasking prowess of the new Palm Pre Plus on Verizon compares to the original Palm Pre on Sprint.

While Palm’s Pre is many things to many people it still can’t game. Oh sure, it’ll play Magic Fortune Ball like a champ but when it comes to intensive 3D action the Pre is as helpless as a would-be terrorist trying to ignite his underwear. See, webOS and the Mojo SDK currently can’t exploit the GPU the way other smartphone platforms can.

The Palm Pixi keeps on making headlines, this time, at The Ellen DeGeneres Show, where Christmas came a bit early, when Ellen gave away Pixi smartphones to her screaming audience. This happened on the taping of today’s episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show , as part of the show’s “12 Days of Giveaways”.
