With so many of us performing funeral dirges in honor of webOS it’s easy to forget that the tablet and smartphone platform is still officially supported HP. In fact, just today, the company issued yet another incremental update — pushing TouchPads to version 3.0.5, while Pre 2 and Pre 3 handsets are moving on up to 2.2.4
Mobiletor.com Palm branding crossed out of HPwebOS.com Mobiletor.com It started with the upgrade to HP webOS 2.0 and then the announcement about the Palm Pre 2′s availability, with the hardware still featuring the original company name. Then the absence of this brand in the launch of the Pre 3 and Veer smartphones a ..
Hey, Pre 2 owners: want the webOS 2.1 action that Germans have been enjoying on their Pre Pluses for a couple weeks now? Of course you do — and HP’s got your back. The new update’s been posted with support for the Touchstone’s Exhibition mode, Voice Dial, and a plethora of updates to existing apps throughout the system (interestingly, the unlocked Pre 2 seems to have the Rogers model’s update information, but we’re pretty sure it makes no difference).

Palm’s touting that webOS 1.4.5 is now out and about, though its support page for the version is a wacky hodgepodge of Sprint and SFR versions of the update — perfect for French expats living in the good ol’ US of A, we suppose. Odds are very good that this new build isn’t going to blow you away, but hey, an update’s an update: you’ll get “minor fixes and enhancements” for use with the PDK , a text field fix for the browser, a “rare problem” involving podcast downloads, and that’s about it. The optimist in us wants to believe that the utter lack of innovation in this latest update is a sign that most of Palm’s brain trust is invested in engineering fresh hardware at the moment — right, Palm

Palm Pre and Pixi owners received a late Christmas present last night in terms of the webOS 1.3.5 firmware update that weighs in at just 13MB. I no longer have a Palm Pre, but make sure to head over to PreCentral.net to check out all the details of the upgrade. The upgrade is available for both webOS devices, the Pre and Pixi, but is currently limited to the US model of the Palm Pre.
Call it a late holiday gift, but Palm Pre mobile phone users will be treated to a wireless firmware upgrade called webOS 1.3.5 build 194. It’s been widely reported last week that this upgrade was coming, but the exact date was not clear. We now know that Sprint will rollout the update sometime
Well, lookie here: it’s not up on Palm’s support site yet, but Sprint is showing a release date of December 28 — that’s today, by the way — for webOS 1.3.5 on the Pre . This is a pretty nifty little upgrade, you might recall — nifty enough to get none other than CEO Jon Rubinstein to name-drop it during the company’s most recent earnings call — thanks to the removal of the platform’s troublesome app storage limit, better performance, better battery life (particularly in weak cell coverage), and a host of bugfixes sure to put a smile on your pretty face
A Europe with a Yahoo-free webOS isn’t a Europe we’d ever want to live in — it’s just not right — and happily we won’t have to, because that shiny new version 1.3.1 that dropped in concert with the Pixi launch a few days ago is on the way to the Old World. Palm’s official blog reports that customers on the Pre’s official carriers in Ireland, Germany, Spain, and the UK can expect 1.3.1 “soon,” and thanks to the magic of over-the-air firmware delivery, users should have little more to do than sit on their rears and wait for the goodness to come to them on a wireless silver platter

Filed under: Software , Palm , ATT , Palm OS Once upon a time, Palm released a big firmware update for AT&T’s branded version of the venerable Palm OS-powered Treo 680 (we know we just tossed a mind-boggling array of obsolete words and phrases at you, so feel free to take a couple minutes to catch your breath — we’ll wait). Okay, now fast forward to mid-2009. Treo 680s are still in the field — and apparently, some of those haven’t been updated to that 2007 vintage firmware.
