Just a quick note to thank everyone who attended the Application Basics webcast on Tuesday (September 9th), and to thank the O’Reilly team for hosting the webcast. We covered a lot in the hour ranging from how to access and install the SDK, an overview of the SDK tools and building a simple application.
Submit your webOS applications today for the Palm App Catalog e-commerce beta starting in mid-September Starting today, you can submit your apps via email for consideration in the Palm App Catalog e-commerce beta program. We’re initiating the beta e-commerce program so we can test the experience for both webOS app developers and users.
Starting this week, we’re going to post regular updates to help you find the new information and interesting activities on the webOSdev developer portal . This week we’re encouraging everyone to get involved with preDevCamp on August 8 and to come and join the activities in the webOSdev developer forums .
I’m very pleased to announce that effective today we are wrapping up the webOS early access program. We are doing this because today we opened up the program to everyone and released our new public developer portal at http://developer.palm.com .
We are excited to announce the availability of Palm’s open source portal at http://opensource.palm.com . We’re using Linux and various other open source software in webOS to allow us to accelerate innovation through collaboration with the global community of open source developers. The benefits of teaming with the open source community come with the important responsibility of ensuring compliance with applicable open source license obligations.
