Beating out Verizon , Canada’s Rogers becomes the first carrier in North America to pick up the Pre 2 today, hawking it for CAD $99 — about $97 — as long as you’re willing to put your name down for a new three-year contract with a qualifying voice and data plan. Since Rogers runs HSPA on 850 and 1900MHz, you can bet this is pretty much the same phone Palm is offering unlocked in the States for $450; you’re just paying a little less upfront and a whole lot more over time
So the Pre 2 has been announced for SFR in France and Verizon in the States, along with an unlocked model for developers… but so far, we’d only seen one of the three in the FCC. Well, here are the other two: on the left, the P102EWW, and on the right, the P102UNA.

There’s no doubt that the Palm Pre is a very anticipated device. We were anxiously clamoring for it in the States before its release, our Canadian friends are counting down the days (it arrives August 27th on Bell for $199.95CAD) and Europe is still lingering, waiting to see if that October rumored release pans out.

However long you think you had to wait for the Pre in the States, you must remember that Europe is waiting longer and so is Canada. I would have gone mad by now! Recently it was reported that Bell, Palm’s exclusive launch partner in Canada, had begun employee training for the Pre and now we have a little more indication that a release date could be coming sooner rather than later.
