Kris Abel – Canada AM’s tech expert and CTV.ca blogger has posted his in-depth review of the Palm Pre on Bell Canada. He goes into detail about almost everything like the Pre’s design aesthetic, how unlike other phones, it isn’t rectangular and feels quite comfortable in your hand and webOS’ ease of use. Sounds like he’s quite fond of it
Mac users (like myself) have been enjoying the usefulness and simplicity of The Missing Sync for Palm Pre for a while now; almost since the Pre’s release. Well, it’s time for Windows users to get some loving too. Mark/Space has just made available to the public a pre-release version of The Missing Sync for Palm Pre for Windows ( Windows XP ONLY ! Do not try to run this software on a Windows Vista PC!).
File this under cool! Have a look at the Palm Pre Experience space at The Americana at Brand (which we told you was coming a couple of weeks ago) in Glendale, California.
The guys over at PreCentral got a tip from one of their readers of a rare sighting of the GSM Palm Pre for Germany’s O2.
The guys over at PreCentral got a tip from one of their readers of a rare sighting of the GSM Palm Pre for Germany’s O2. A couple of pictures were posted on this German forum of the Pre sitting beside an HTC and a Samsung phone.
There’s no doubt that the Palm Pre is a very anticipated device. We were anxiously clamoring for it in the States before its release, our Canadian friends are counting down the days (it arrives August 27th on Bell for $199.95CAD) and Europe is still lingering, waiting to see if that October rumored release pans out.
An update is now available in the App Catalog to the GoodFoods app, which is one of the many, many restaurant finders in the catalog. I’m not complaining but… okay, I kind of am. Anyway, the update appears to be minor and no new features or bug fixes are listed in the description on the application’s page.
It’s official, kiddies so grab you camping tents and your sleeping bags and get ready to camp out in front of Bell stores in Canada! I jest… sort of. Bell informed us all via their website today that the Palm Pre arrives in their stores and on their network officially August 27th . The 3-year contract price will be $199.95CAD (which is about $187USD or £110) and $599.95CAD ($561USD or £331) for out-of-contract pricing.
We’ve seen this price before… namely at the Best Buy “system error” sale that afforded a lot of happy people brand new Palm Pres for $99.99 for a day or so. Well, not Let’s Talk is doing it too but their seems to be intentional… not a system error. Right now, the Palm Pre available for sale through the Let’s Talk website for $99.99.
Sprint has taken a lot of heat from analysts about their handling of the Palm Pre launch and the lack of advertising, especially from Walter Piecyk of Pali Capital who has accused Sprint of fumbling a good opportunity by not advertising the Pre enough. I admit I share his viewpoint to a certain extent
However long you think you had to wait for the Pre in the States, you must remember that Europe is waiting longer and so is Canada. I would have gone mad by now! Recently it was reported that Bell, Palm’s exclusive launch partner in Canada, had begun employee training for the Pre and now we have a little more indication that a release date could be coming sooner rather than later.
